Beach Description:

Punalu’u beach is the most famous black sand beach of Hawaii. You can often see endangered Green Sea Turtles basking in the sun. Although it may be tempting, do not touch these protected turtles and do not remove any black sand from the beach.

Coconut palms fringe the edge of sandy beach. Although swimming isn't ideal at this spectacular location, there is a picnic area. Resting beneath the coconut trees can by hypnotic! You can experience the unique feeling of the volcanic black sand between your toes at this wonderful spot.
